Throughout this study, we have seen how the Colossian church was influenced by false and empty philosophies that encouraged individuals to pursue their own versions of truth. As a result, both society and the family institution, as God’s intended design, were being undermined by these heresies. This week, Pastor Shawn continues to explore Paul’s instructions to the household, focusing on two key points: showing how these household instructions extend beyond the family to shape our relationships with others (employers, coworkers, teachers, classmates, friends, etc.), and clarifying the meaning of the word "submission". As Warren Wiersbe explains, spiritual transformation occurs “When a child of God looks into the Word of God and sees the Son of God, He is changed by the Spirit of God into the image of God, for the glory of God.” Those redeemed by Christ have moved from alienation, enmity, and wicked works to being holy, blameless, and above reproach, and this transformation should be evident in their approach towards their marriage, family, workplace, and community.
