As we continue our study of the book of Colossians, we are reminded that the church was being influenced by false and empty philosophies. In response, the Apostle Paul directs believers back to the heart of their faith: since they were raised with Christ, they were to seek things above and not follow empty philosophies that once defined them. Rather than being drawn again to the same dead philosophies, Paul exhorts them to live in the newness of life in Christ. This week, we are taught to be heavenly-minded, to put to death the old self and sinful patterns, and to live as those who were made alive in Christ.
